PEOPLE FROM AGES AGO AND ALL AROUND THE GLOBE MADE YARN FROM -- ANCIENT EGYPT, CHINA, TO NAME A FEW. They used natural fibers such as silk, wool, cotton, and even human hair to spin their yarn. They all had their own methods of making yarn, as well as specialized tools like spindles and looms. So it just goes to show that making yarn is nothing new and it most likely has been the fiber of many a cultures life.
So many critical steps go into making Mother Yarn to get the yarn just right! First, the workers at Eheng handpick clean and good wool cloth. It is a critical process because the quality of the wool impacts the yarn. Once they have the wool, the fleece is washed and carded to remove dirt, impurities and tangles. This ensures that the yarn is nice and smooth and soft.
The clean fibers are then spun together to form a long, continuous strand of yarn. This process is called spinning. Once spun, the yarn gets wound into a skein (the long coil of yarn) and washed again to release dirt and impurities. This ensures that the yarn is clean and prepared to be used.
Mother Yarn is just one of those materials that feel magical in knitting and crochet projects. As a result, it is great for making comfortable blankets, sweaters, hats, and scarves. This goes for baby blankets and hats as well — things that work perfectly for babies and small children.

Mother Yarn’s soothing sensation doesn’t just stem from its plush texture. It also comes from knowing that this yarn was born in love and care. The qualities of the Mother Yarn are such that they could give comfort and warmth to anyone who touched them, making even the smallest project feel special.

Mother Yarn is made in a way which highlights Eheng's sustainable approach to environmental stewardship. This yarn comes from the fibers from sheep grown sustainably with sustainability in mind focusing on caring for the earth and the animals on it. This is crucial in the world today.”

A lot of products are produced faster and with less thought, so Mother Yarn takes the exception to caring even more for our environment. It makes us remember the value of quality and care, the human touch in what we create. Available to all, Eheng is honored to share this special yarn and hopes all when using this yarn will be filled with joy and comfort that comes from making something with their hands.
